Dodgers planning to cover entire field for AC/DC concert

One of the next stops for classic rock band AC/DC is Dodger Stadium, but the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t going to risk experiencing what the Chicago Cubs supposedly did following a recent concert.

According to TMZ, a Dodgers representative confirmed the entire playing surface will be covered with a special tarp that was also used when Paul McCartney performed last year.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers notes Cubs manager Joe Maddon blamed the concert for messing up the infield and influencing previously unseen bad hops.

“They totally messed up our infield. I’ve seen a bad hop at third, a bad hop at second. Prior to that I’ve not seen one bad hop all year.”

Los Angeles surely wants to avoid the same fate, especially since—similar to the Cubs—the Dodgers are bound for the postseason. Their magic number to clinch the National League West over the rival San Francisco Giants is down to just two.

It’d be a shame if a bad bounce impacted a potential playoff game at either Wrigley Field or Dodger Stadium, but no matter what, it’s safe to assume AC/DC isn’t focused on field conditions. That’s not the band’s responsibility.

All AC/DC needs to do is put together a great show, and unlike the future of the infield, we’re not worried about that.
