DeMarco Murray injury: Eagles RB will play Sunday despite missing practice on Thursday

Despite missing practice on Thursday with a tweaked hamstring, Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray will play on Sunday against the New York Jets.

Ashley Fox of ESPN reported this breaking news.

If he’s healthy, then the logical assumption is that Murray’s presence in the lineup will help the Eagles tremendously on Sunday. However, through two games the former Dallas Cowboys running back has been practically invisible in the running game, with his two-yard performance in Week 2 deemed “historically ineffective” by Elias.

With just 11 yards on 21 carries to this point in his tenure in Philly, Murray has a lot of work to do in order to live up to the five-year, $40 million contract he signed this past spring.

And things don’t get any easier in Week 3. The Jets feature one of the toughest front lines in the NFL and allow just 3.8 yards per carry. Furthermore, they haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown to date and have given up the fewest total points of any defense in the league (8.5 points per game).

This isn’t the ideal circumstance for Murray as he attempts to shrug off an ailing hamstring. Fantasy owners, beware.
