Darius Slay jokes about asking Peyton Manning to sign intercepted ball

Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay has a humorous plan for obtaining future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s autograph on Sunday.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the 24-year-old said if he intercepts a pass from the Denver Broncos quarterback, Slay will immediately ask Peyton to sign the ball.

To be fair, Slay might have said that while being perfectly serious, but the likelihood of the execution is slim. That’s not to suggest Slay won’t snatch an interception. After all, he picked off two passes last season and already has one in 2015.

But can you imagine the Lions defender running up to a frustrated post-intereption Manning, pulling a Terrell Owens and grabbing a Sharpie from his sock then extending the ball and pen to Peyton?

Man, that’d be quite the move from the cornerback who wants to be called “The Earth” because he can cover everything.

Manning has thrown one interception in both games so far this season, and hopefully Slay extends that streak to three—if only to see whether or not he follows through on approaching Peyton.
