Washington Nationals forced to re-issue massive bobblehead order

The Washington Nationals have been planning a massive bobblehead giveaway on August 30th to commemorate Jayson Werth’s walk-off home run in Game 4 of the 2012 NLDS. Unfortunately, the 25,000 fans that would have taken home one of those commemorative bobbleheads will now have to settle for a voucher instead.

The team made this announcement on Twitter Friday evening.

Likely, given the fact that Washington is 6.5 games behind the New York Mets in the NL East and a full nine games back in the National League wild-card race, some fans bought tickets to this game just for the bobbleheads.

The re-issued bobbleheads will now be available to be picked up “on an offseason date at Nationals Park.” A “special gift” will be included with the voucher, but there is no doubt there will be some disappointed kids who were expecting the bobblehead on Sunday.

You can be sure that someone is getting an earful over the failure to deliver an acceptable product.
