Rory McIlroy says he’ll be 100 percent competitive for PGA Championship

Five weeks after suffering a nasty ankle injury, Rory McIlroy claims he’ll be “100 percent competitive” this weekend for the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straights.

This news comes by way of Brian Keogh of irishnewsdesk.com, who also noted McIlroy has been hitting balls since July 20.

Truly, the marvels of medical science never cease to amaze. Just as amazing is the ability of professional athletes like McIlroy to endure the pain it takes to come back from what would be a devastating injury for most average folks.

Remember, the world No. 1 golfer ruptured a tendon in his ankle just five weeks ago.

This is what his ankle looked like just a handful of days ago, along with another shot of the injury after 3 1/2 weeks following the injury.

McIlroy is a former winner of the upcoming PGA Championship. He’s been red hot in major championships the past year or so, winning the final two last season and earning top-10 finishes in the first two majors this year.

After sitting out his beloved British Open because of the injury, McIlroy is visibly raring to get back into the swing of things on Thursday.
