Miami Heat owner proposing Miami Vice-inspired uniforms to fans

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Maybe this is just a fun gag, but Miami Heat owner Micky Arison appears to be toying with the idea of suiting his team up in highlighter-style uniforms this upcoming season that were inspired by the show “Miami Vice.”

Arison used his Instagram account to put these bad boys out there for fans to peruse with the caption: “If u would like to see @Adidas produce these jerseys comment here and I will pass it on to them and the @NBA. #LetsGoHEAT”

Here are the uniforms in question.

As pointed out by the Washington Post, it appears this idea was first birthed by Reddit user NeotericPioneer, who posted this:

“So an idea popped into my head the other day that the Miami Heat could have a series of games (or just one) called Vice Nights kind of like Latin Nights which has become a regular tribute among many teams in the NBA for its Hispanic communities. Vice Nights, of course, comes from the popular 80s TV show, Miami Vice. The Heat did something similar to this a few years ago but I thought it would be a fun idea to take a step further and make a jersey, poster, and a few special alternate logos. Enjoy!”

It appears Arison has really taken this idea to heart. He even went so far as to make the connection that it’s been 10 years since the Heat won the first championship with Dwyane Wade and 25 years since “Miami Vice” was taken off the air.

This seems like a fun idea, and the fans appear to be almost unanimously behind such an idea, based on the Reddit threat and Twitter responses. Chances are, if Arison does have the uniforms made they’ll sell like hot cakes.
