Las Vegas betting shows Tiger Woods has finally lost public support

Tiger Woods was, for over a decade, a lock as the top dog when it came to PGA Tour golf and Las Vegas betting totals in big tournaments.

Not so much any more.

As Woods’ game continues to slide into the proverbial toilet, so does the support of his once-loyal fans—and the betting numbers show it.

Jeff Sherman, assistant manager of Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, released his company’s PGA Championship wagering leaders, and Woods was nowhere to be found on the ticket totals or total money wagered.

This is a far cry from the old reality, which pitted the former No. 1 player in the world against the field for every major tournament. Back when Woods was hot, most people were taking Woods over the entire field, but six years into his major tournament drought we’re seeing that support disintegrate.

It’s been two years since Woods has won any tournament, and the former undisputed champ hasn’t really sniffed a win this season. He currently ranks No. 186 in the FedEx Cup standings and is No. 278 in the World Golf Rankings.

Making matters worse, Woods has missed the cut in three of the last four majors. His only weekend appearance was at the Masters this past April, but a final-round 73 doomed any chance he had of finishing in the top 10, let alone winning the tournament.

Things are so bad these days for the 14-time major winner that he wasn’t even included in this year’s PGA Championship past winners photo.

Woods has won this tournament four times, so his absence is quite strange. However, the fact that the public is no longer betting on the man who won so much money for himself and his betting fans isn’t surprising at all. Tiger’s time at the top of the sport of golf is clearly at an end.
