Eli Manning scorching hot at start of New York Giants camp

Eli Manning

Eli Manning is so hot right now you need a full-body fire suit to get close to him.

After a resurgent season in 2014 under new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, Manning has opened up camp on fire for the New York Giants.

According to Art Stapleton of The Record, the “other” Manning brother has hardly let a single ball hit the ground since camp opened up and has yet to throw a single interception.

Before we jump out of our seats to declare Manning’s interception-riddled days over and done with, it’s important to note this is just practice. Once the real action begins and opposing defensive coordinators start doing their thing to try and thwart New York’s offense, things could certainly be different.

With that said, this is outstanding news for Manning, the Giants and their fans.

Victor Cruz has returned to action and has reportedly not experienced any setbacks to this point. Combined with Odell Beckham Jr. the two of them comprise an elite duo that has the potential to abuse opposing secondaries to no end. Throw in recently added veteran James Jones and the Giants now feature a trio capable of making plays all over the field, from short slants to deep bombs.

But any success this offense has rests on the shoulders of Manning. Based off what’s been happening to this point, however, it appears he’s up to the task and ready to take things to another level in 2015.

Before McAdoo’s arrival last year, Manning operated an offense that was heavy on long drops and longer routes. He held onto the ball for an eternity in NFL standards all too often and therefore experienced a lot of undue pressure.

McAdoo’s offense relies on quick drops, quick reads and quick throws. Many thought he would greatly assist Manning because of this, and last year proved successful in this regard. Manning completed the highest percentage of passes in his career (63.1 percent) and had a tremendous touchdown to interception ratio (for him) of 30-14.

One more year into McAdoo’s system and it appears Manning has gotten even more comfortable, which should worry the heck out of opposing defenses this year.
