Report: Goran Dragic, Heat Agree to 5-Year Deal

The Miami Heat were expected to lock up Goran Dragic, and the franchise didn’t waste much time accomplishing that.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the point guard has agreed to a five-year contract with the Heat.

Wojnarowski notes Dragic holds a player option after the fourth year of the contract.

Dragic, who Miami acquired from the Phoenix Suns at the trade deadline, registered 16.6 points, 5.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per outing over 26 appearances for the team.

The Heat will now turn their collective attention toward re-signing franchise stalwart Dwyane Wade. The shooting guard opted out of a $16 million contract in hopes of receiving a long-term, guaranteed deal.

However, even if Wade leaves town, Dragic is prepared to be Miami’s backcourt leader right now.
