The Los Angeles Dodgers have been heavily rumored to be interested in multiple starting pitchers. Whether they get that ace remains to be seen, but the team did add a solid veteran arm in Mat Latos on Wednesday.

The specific players headed to Miami in the deal are not yet known, but it looks like three pitching prospects is the bounty here. The Marlins competitive balance pick next year is also headed to Los Angeles in the deal. In addition to this, there is no money exchanging hands.
Latos, 27, had a struggle at it early in his Marlins career after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds in the winter. He gave up seven earned runs in 2/3 of an inning in his first start of the year and boasted a 6.12 ERA heading into June. After a stint on the disabled list, Latos has returned strong, posting a 2.96 ERA in his past seven starts.
Latos’ best season came back in 2010 when he posted a 14-10 record with a 2.92 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. The 27-year-old starter is earning $9.4 million this season, the final year of his deal.
Michael Morse, who played a significant role in the San Francisco Giants World Series run last season, will come in as a solid bench option. He’s missed extended time this season with a back injury and is owed $8 million in 2016.
