De’Andre Johnson Believes He Deserves a Second Chance After Hitting Woman in Bar

Former Florida State quarterback De’Andre Johnson made news again on Tuesday, asking for a second chance after hitting a woman in the face.

He shocked the sports world in the worst possible way last week when footage surfaced of the incident. Not surprisingly, he was subsequently cut from the FSU football team, which was the only logical consequence for his disturbing actions.

But after all that, Johnson believes he deserves a second chance.

He appeared on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday morning (h/t TMZ) to offer his thoughts on the matter, speaking with Michael Strahan.

“There’s no explanation for that. I totally should have walked away. I’m sorry, if I could do it all over again, I would.”

When Strahan asked if he deserved another shot at playing college football, Johnson responded:

“Yes sir. Without a doubt. What you saw in the video is not who I am.”

Apologies to Johnson, but a second chance isn’t likely coming any time soon.

The rising tide of public awareness as it concerns violence towards women will make it impossible for any school to consider adding Johnson.

And that’s a good thing.

Perhaps a bit more remorse and a lot more time in between his action and request for another chance would help Johnson’s cause. Regardless, he’s delusional to think a school is going to come calling any time in the near future to offer him the privilege of playing football in front of thousands on Saturdays.
