Kobe Bryant to be NBA Finals Analysis for Chinese-Based Online Service

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is sure attempting to keep busy as he rebounds from yet another lost season. The future Hall of Famer will be providing online analysis for the NBA Finals for the Chinese-based online community Sina.

Bryant, who remains the most popular American basketball player in Asia, will join studio host Huang Shuo remotely from Los Angeles to provide detailed analysis prior to Game 3 of the Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. He will then jump right back on to provide his thoughts on the game after the final buzzer sounds.

Is this Bryant’s way of attempting this media thing for when he ultimately calls it quits? While that is definitely possible, it appears he is thinking more about expanding his brand in China. Bryant indicated Monday night that he would be making an announcement regarding his summer plans during his appearances—a plan that most likely includes a trip to Asia.

As a growing base for basketball players, Asia offers Bryant untapped potential when it comes to creating marketing relationships. We have seen the likes of Dwight Howard, Kyrie Irving and Carmelo Anthony, among others, foray into that market in the past.
