Giants Pitcher Chris Heston Throws No-Hitter Against the Mets

It wasn’t Matt Cain. It wasn’t Tim Lincecum. It wasn’t 2014 World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner. Instead, little-known San Francisco Giants starter Chris Heston made history Tuesday night against the Mets in New York.

The 27-year-old starter threw a 11-strikeout no-hitter against the Mets in what was a dazzling all-around performance, getting Ruben Tejada looking to end the game without yielding a single hit. Heston, who had zero career wins prior to the 2015 season, also hit three batters and walked zero in the outing.

For the Giants, it’s the team fifth no-hitter since the 2009 season. For comparison’s sake, the Mets have had just one no-hitter in franchise history.
