Baltimore Ravens Sign CB Kyle Arrington to Three-Year Contract

Just two days after being let go by the New England Patriots, cornerback Kyle Arrington has found a new home with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens announced the signing on Twitter, noting it is a three-year deal that is still pending a physical. The team had hinted at being interested in the talented defensive back, and head coach John Harbaugh had also discussed the need to bolster the cornerback position before the season began.

We are still looking for defensive backs,”  Harbaugh said, per the team’s official website. “There’s no doubt about it. We want to add some competition in there.”

Arrington was a key contributor for the Patriots the past few seasons, starting 56 games. He can play multiple positions in the secondary and joins a talented group of cornerbacks in Baltimore. Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb and Asa Jackson have all shown the ability to play at the highest level. Now, with four skilled veterans, the Ravens have the players to stymie the league’s top passing offenses.

Combined with the sack-happy front seven, Arrington and the Ravens secondary looks to be a formidable force on paper. Whether it translates to dominance on the field is obviously another story that will be answered weekly when the season begins in September.
