Oregon OC Scott Frost Really Tired of “Dumb” Marcus Mariota Questions

It’s no surprise that Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost is being asked a variety of questions about 2014 Heisman Trophy winner and top draft prospect Marcus Mariota.

As much as Frost would like to provide helpful answers to inquiring minds, however, he’d really like the dumb queries concerning the former Ducks quarterback to cease. According to Tyson Alger of The Oregonian, Frost let off some steam regarding silly questions he’s been asked.

“Some of them were great questions and some of them were some of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard. I think it’s ridiculous to think Marcus is too nice to play football. If that was the case, he wouldn’t have won so many games around here.”

That question—which has popped up more than once—stems from last October when a scout asked if Mariota had enough edge in his personality to be a successful NFL quarterback.

“Like if you punched him in the stomach, he might apologize to you,” the scout told Sports Illustrated. “I just don’t know if he’s that alpha male that you’re looking for. The kid’s kind of a fly on the wall kind of guy. Physically, he’s really talented, but it’s going to take a little time.”

Despite the concerns that Mariota cannot make the transition to the NFL, Frost remains confident that the quarterback will be able to adjust.

One thing is for sure, though: Frost will be thankful once the first day of the NFL Draft becomes history.
