According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, quarterback Marcus Mariota is scheduled to have a private workout for the Tennessee Titans after his pro day.
Marcus Mariota’s Thursday pro-day workout is expected to be attended by an abundance of NFL scouts and coaches. The private workout for the Titans makes sense considering their need for more quarterback depth. With the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, Mariota could fall right into the lap of the Titans. This is providing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are known to have a strong interest in Jameis Winston, don’t pull some type of shifty move.
The Titans have second-year quarterback Zach Mettenberger in line to start. Former first-round pick Jake Locker also announced his retirement on Tuesday.
If for some reason the Titans decide they want to pass on Mariota, there are reports that they may be interested in trading their second pick with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for whoever Chip Kelly and company have left on the roster.
