According to NFL Media Insider Albert Breer, Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston traveled to Tampa Monday night for a meeting with the Buccaneers.
Over the course of the draft season, each team is allowed 30 player meetings at their facility. The meeting with Winston is unusually early, especially considering teams usually wait until after pro day’s have been conducted in order to chum it up with potential draft picks.
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said last week that Buccaneers officials contacted FSU coaches regarding Winston. Additionally, Lovie Smith stated at the NFL Scouting Combine that he would feel comfortable making Winston the face of the franchise.
News of this meeting would certainly indicate that the Buccaneers are leaning towards selecting the Florida State product with the first pick in this year’s draft.
The meeting is expected to last multiple days.
