Report: Cowboys in Contract Negotiations with Greg Hardy

According to Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan, the Dallas Cowboys are currently in contract negotiations with star defensive end Greg Hardy.

Fisher indicates that the Cowboys’ stance on Hardy has changed over the past week. The team originally didn’t want to take on the baggage that will come with signing Hardy, who sat out all but one game last season while dealing with a domestic violence issue.

Hardy, who is still on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, saw his case dropped last month after the complainant failed to show up for the trial. Reports at that time indicated that Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, received a cash settlement from the former Carolina Panthers defensive end prior to refusing to testify against him.

Hardy, 26, is seen as one of the top 4-3 defensive ends in the game. Prior to missing most of last season, the former sixth-round pick tallied a combined 26 sacks in 2012 and 2013.

In addition to the Cowboys, it’s also being reported that the Seattle Seahawks could emerge as a legitimate suitor for Hardy.

As it relates to any potential discipline from the NFL, suggestions are that Hardy will receive a six-game suspension under the new domestic violence policy.
