Randall Cobb on Staying with the Packers “I Want to Win Championships”

Just hours before the Green Bay Packers’ exclusive negotiation period with wide receiver Randall Cobb ended last weekend, the team agreed to a four-year deal with the young play maker.

Despite drawing interest from other teams, Cobb opted to remain in Green Bay. Upon taking many things into consideration, Cobb realized remaining in Green Bay presents his best chance at future overall success.

I want championships. At the end of the day, I want to win championships. I feel like being in this offense and this organization was the best place for me to have the opportunity for me to win championships, Cobb said. “That’s my goal day-in and day-out to get those rings. I’m going to do everything in my power to help this team get to that position.”

Cobb’s decision to stick with Green Bay will also give him the opportunity to negotiate another monster contract in four years when he becomes a free agent again at only 28 years-of-age. This is obviously dependent on him producing at a high level during that span. In taking less money to stay with Green Bay, Cobb is definitely betting on himself. He’s also looking to help lead the Packers to another title.

Cobb also said the presence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a big factor in his decision to stay with the Packers.

That definitely was a factor. Like I’ve stated many times, I think Aaron’s going to go down as the greatest quarterback in the history of the game. To be able to play with him four more years, I know it’s a blessing. I know how good he is.

While other teams may have offered him more, none have quarterbacks like Rodgers who will continue to lead the Packers to championship contention. Cobb must have come to the conclusion that “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”
