Aerosmith to Perform at Pro Football Hall of Fame Concert

The Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on August 8th in Canton, Ohio. A total of eight members will be inducted as the Class of 2015.

One day prior to the ceremony, and for the first time ever, a Concert for Legends will be held featuring the Boston-based rock band Aerosmith.

Speaking about the upcoming concert, Hall of Fame President David Baker shared this in a press release (via the New England Patriots’ official website).

The Hall is thrilled to have legends of the music world honor the legends of the game. Aerosmith performing in the inaugural Concert for Legends will add even more excitement and energy to an Enshrinement Weekend that kicks off the NFL’s 96th season since its birth in Canton, and the launch to Super Bowl 50.

Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry chatted a bit about the concert and what the Patriots mean to him.

As Aerosmith began traveling the world and became our own [Rock & Roll] Hall of Famers, seeing the Patriots under the brilliant guidance of the Kraft family, we would hear the news of our hometown team winning again as we were doing a show in a far flung corner of the world and we would swell with pride and think, ‘Ya those are our boys.”

To perform this show for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Hall of Famers is truly a great honor. You only get here by playing the game with all of your heart and soul. So we look forward to honoring all of you with a show that comes from the same place.

Sharing the love Andre Tippet, an Aerosmith fan himself, had this to say about his former team’s connection with Aerosmith’s music.

Spending my whole career in New England, I was very fortunate to have opportunity to get to know Steven, Joe, Brad, Tom and Joey. I can tell you that the New England Patriots locker room, in my day, was playing Aerosmith songs like ‘Toys in the Attic,’ ‘Sweet Emotion,’ ‘Livin on the Edge’ and ‘Walk This Way.’ And today, I can honestly tell you that those same songs fill the locker room of the Super Bowl champions.

If the concert is not your thing and you are wondering who is actually playing in the 2015 Hall of Fame Game, it will be the Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Minnesota Vikings squaring off.

Until then…
