Report: Earl Thomas to Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Earl Thomas is one of the men who could become the 2017 NFL Comeback Player of the Year

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas reportedly played in the Super Bowl with a torn labrum and a separated shoulder.

Now according to a report by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Thomas will undergo surgery to repair that shoulder.

As a result, Thomas is expected to miss six to eight months while recovering. This could place Thomas back as early as August for the beginning of the preseason. A slower recovery and more pessimistic prognosis would have Thomas returning no earlier than the beginning of October.

Despite his injury, the four-time All-Pro promised to “play fearless” in the Super Bowl in an attempt to push back against any pain or discomfort.

Thomas suffered the separated shoulder in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers that caused him a brief visit to the locker room before unleashing a furious attack on Packers running back Eddie Lacy. Apparently, Thomas’ actions were to prove he wasn’t going to let his shoulder get in the way with moving forward to the Super Bowl.
