Jeff Fisher on Sam Bradford Trade Rumors: That’s Inaccurate

It was just reported that the St. Louis Rams’ general manager Les Snead had no plans to “delete” quarterback Sam Bradford from the team.

Head coach Jeff Fisher has since confirmed Snead’s sentiment, stating this regarding Bradford (via NFL.com).

We’re counting on him, I’m betting on him, and if that doesn’t happen, then we’ll win games with someone else.

This news from Fisher is a bit surprising and confusing to hear coming off of a report just Thursday that indicated that the Rams gave Bradford permission to seek a trade.

And.

Of course the news about the Rams encouraging Bradford to seek a trade is again conflicting with the report a few days prior which indicated that the team plans to stick with Bradford in 2015.

When Fisher was questioned at the NFL Scouting Combine about the report that they gave Bradford the permission to seek a trade, he responded with this.

I was surprised to hear that — not surprised — but no, that’s inaccurate. We talked about what our plans are for him.

This comes at the same time that Jason Cole of Bleacher Report is indicating that the Cleveland Browns are interested in trading for Bradford.

Additionally, Bradford himself has claimed he is not interested in being traded.

If you are confused, we can undoubtedly say that you are not alone. With so many conflicting reports, one thing is clear. Without some restructuring of his contract, Bradford’s cap hit for the Rams next season would put the team behind the proverbial eight-ball.

With an inflated 2015 salary of $13 million that occupies $16.6 million of the Rams’ salary cap, Bradford’s situation will likely get even more confusing before all is said and done.
