Adrian Peterson Wants Fresh Start, Could be Traded

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings attempt at mending fences with star running back Adrian Peterson has failed, and he now wants a fresh start on another team.

There had been speculation that Peterson would return to the Vikings after missing all but one game this past season while serving time on the Commissioner’s Exempt List and being suspended by the league following a well-documented child abuse case.

Now that the Vikings overtures have been turned away by Peterson, the team will look to work out a potential trade for the future Hall of Famer.

Rapoport went on to indicate that Minnesota will not release Peterson outright, which suggests that things could potentially get ugly if a trade isn’t worked out.

The Dallas Cowboys, who are a likely destination for Peterson, could very well decide to make a play for his services instead of retaining soon-to-be free agent running back DeMarco Murray.

They likely won’t be the only suitors. Still in the prime of his career, Peterson has some solid seasons ahead of himself. And to be honest, his off-field issues likely won’t be much of a deterrent for other teams around the NFL.
