Russell Wilson Takes Issue with Marshawn Lynch’s Fines

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum as it relates to media relations than teammate Marshawn Lynch. Known by some as a walking public relations firm, Wilson does his best to steer away from controversy when addressing the media. And it’s a strategy that works extremely well for the young star.

This didn’t stop Wilson from supporting Lynch and questioning the NFL’s seemingly outlandish attitude towards the enigmatic running back.

“There’s times I don’t think he should be fined, that’s for sure, especially to the extent that people try to fine him for,” Wilson said, via Pro Football Talk. “That’s just my honest opinion. I think the guy loves the game, people love the way he is, and sometimes people try to take certain things away from people, the way they are. I don’t know. I don’t think he should be fined for it, personally.”

Lynch, who seems to have fulfilled his media requirements for Super Bowl Week, has been fined a total of over $130,000 this season alone. And while he did meet with media, there is a possibility that Lynch might be fined another $100,000 for wearing an unlicensed Beast Mode hat during Super Bowl Media Day.

The entire situation has gotten out of control. Certain media types continue an offensive targeted at the controversial running back, while others are out in full force to defend him. And for his part, Lynch seems to be taking everything in stride.

As it relates to Wilson, this is one of the few times that he has come out against the National Football League. It’s a good look for a quarterback that will be seen as a team leader into the future, long after Lynch himself has departed the NFL.
