Oregon WR Darren Carrington Suspended for National Title Game

Big-play Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington has reportedly been suspended for the team’s National Championship game matchup against Ohio State after apparently testing positive for marijuana.

Oregon redshirt freshman wide receiver Darren Carrington failed a NCAA administered drug test and did not make the trip to Texas for Monday’s national title game against Ohio State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, according to multiple team sources,” CSNNW.com’s Aaron Fentress is reporting.

Carrington has tallied 37 receptions for over 700 yards this season. He’s seen as the team’s top big-play threat in the passing game. With Carrington likely out, Oregon will have to rely on lesser-known pass catchers to step up in his stead.

Considering Carrington caught seven passes for 165 yards and two scores in the team’s national semifinal matchup against Florida State, replacing him won’t be an easy feat.

Oregon has the right to appeal the suspension.
