Golden Tate Challenges Organization to “Have Best Offseason of Your Life”

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate may be new to the team, but he had some strong words of encouragement for the organization following its disheartening playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday evening (via ESPN.com).

I challenged every man in here, coaches, trainers, fan base, players obviously, to go have the best offseason of your life. We see how close we are as a community and that should encourage. Yeah, this season is over and it’s tough to swallow right now but, hey, the Detroit Lions are not done. We’re going to go out there and have a heck of an offseason and come back and be ready and be focused. This could be the start of something great, I think.

You can just tell from these words that Tate, who has thrived thus far in Detroit, feels completely at home as a member of the Lions. Unfortunately for Tate, the team is done for the season after Sunday’s close loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

However, there is much to be proud of for Tate and the Lions, who have played some of the best football we have seen from the organization in years.

Clearly Tate has been a beneficial asset of the Lions this season and he proved it by stepping up in a big way when wide receiver Calvin Johnson missed time due to injury. He ended the regular season with 99 catches, 1,331 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It was by far the best performance of his career.
