Trent Richardson was “Shocked” About His Trade From the Browns

Former Cleveland Browns’ running back Trent Richardson never saw the deal that sent him from the Cleveland Browns to the Indianapolis Colts coming. Fast forward about 14 months later and Richardson is finally speaking up on it.

In a conference call with reporters at The Plain Dealer, Richardson had this to say regarding his trade last season.

I was shocked. I had no clue at all. I had no type of heads up. They gave up on me. I’m going to go into this game like it’s my last one.

Richardson, who was traded last October by the Browns to the Colts, will face his former team for the first time this Sunday when Indianapolis travels to Cleveland. With the Browns’ decision to trade Richardson for a first-round pick, that has got to sting. Surely Richardson will find this fuel for extra motivation to perform at his best against the Browns while he sports blue and white.

And while Richardson may feel that extra dose of adrenaline this week, fans and spectators may have their doubts. Richardson is averagoing 2.0 yards per carry over his last three games. This doesn’t give many the confidence that he’s going to produce at a high level on Sunday.

However, Richardson remains confident.

A lot of people are saying, ‘He’s a mistake. He’s this. He’s that’. Well, watch these next four weeks, because it ain’t like I’ve been playing bad football.

Obviously Richardson’s closing comment is subject to many opinions. My first thought is if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything. However, you have to feel for a young guy who did get completely blind-sided in the whole trade process.
