Steelers Defense Out Having a Blast Following Horrible Performance

On Sunday the Steelers lost what, until recently, looked to be a very winnable game at home against a Saints team that has struggled all season long—particularly on the road.

The 35-32 final score suggests a much closer game than actually was, with Pittsburgh’s fourth quarter surge starting far too late to get them out of the double-digit hole their defense dug for them early. At least the offense found some semblance of a spark late—if only for those desperate fantasy owners.

The defense, on the other hand, was nothing short of a dumpster fire. Mark Ingram gashed the Steelers for 122 yards on 23 carries. James Harrison looked old. Troy Polamalu looked older. William Gay looked overmatched, as usual. And Ike Taylor was abysmal in his first game back since suffering a broken forearm against the Panthers in Week 3.

The good news for the Steelers defense, at least the linebackers, is that they aren’t letting a potentially playoff-killing loss get them down. On Monday night Harrison was posting updates from a team dinner to social media.

Damn. Not for nothing, but that bottle alone looks like it could make up for a loss. Certainly an effective way to forget for a couple of days.

Maybe they should give a few bottles away to Steelers Nation.
