Report: White Sox Sign Melky Cabrera

According to Bruce Levine of 670 the Score, the Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with free-agent outfielder Melky Cabrera on a three-year contract.

The terms of the deal are not yet known, but it is expected that Cabrera will earn north of $10 million per season.

Cabrera may be known for the PED issue that cost him 50 games with the San Francisco Giants during their World Series run in 2012.

But Cabrera is among the best all-around hitters in the game. He put up a .301 average last season with the Toronto Blue Jays. In addition to bringing Cabrera to Chicago, the White Sox have added starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija, closer David Robertson and Adam LaRoche thus far this offseason.

It’s rather obvious they are not in rebuilding mode.

Both the Seattle Mariners and San Francisco Giants had expressed interest in Cabrera before he reportedly signed with Chicago.
