Funny Story: Ron Rivera Claims Panthers are a Good Team

This is the type of spin that would make Washington D.C. proud.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, who is leading a team that has won a total of one game since Week 2, is claiming that they are a good team in a good division (via Nola.com).

I think New Orleans is a good football team, as I do Atlanta — and I think we’re still a good football team.

Good one, Mr. Rivera. Maybe you should try stand-up comedy if this day job doesn’t end too well.

Despite boasting a 3-8-1 record on the season, Carolina finds itself just 1.5 games out of first place in a division that includes co-leaders New Orleans and Atlanta with exact 5-7 records. NFC South teams possess a .235 winning percentage outside of the division. And prior to both the Saints and Falcons winning against non-division opponents last week, the NFC South had compiled just six wins outside of the division through 12 weeks.
