Report: Robert Griffin III ‘Alienated Himself’ from Redskins Players

We have seen this story before. It starts with reports that Robert Griffin III isn’t exactly too popular within the Washington Redskins locker room.

According to ESPN’s Britt McHenry RGIII has “alienated himself” from the locker room.

Adam Schefter goes on to report that several members of the Redskins view that the decision to start RGIII over Colt McCoy, who has led the team to two consecutive wins, was made by the Redskins general manager Bruce Allen and owner Daniel Snyder. This wouldn’t be anything new considering all the reports last season that indicated Snyder and former head coach Mike Shanahan had constant disagreements about who should be under center. In the end, this could have very well cost Shanahan his job.

Redskins executive Tony Wyllie denied the report, telling ESPN that head coach Jay Gruden made the decision to start RGIII over McCoy.

If history tells us anything, Wyllie isn’t being 100 percent truthful here. We know very well just how much Snyder involves himself in player personnel matters. And to be honest, that’s been one of the issues for the last-place Redskins over the years.

As it relates to issues some may have with RGIII in the locker room, players apparently came out in support of the injury-plagued quarterback Sunday morning.

RGIII will start Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings.
