Report: NCAA Investigating Point-Shaving Allegations Against Jameis Winston

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston simply can’t stay out of the news. According to a report by the gossip rag TMZ, the NCAA is currently investigating the Seminoles quarterback for allegations that he was involved in a point shaving scheme.

The initial story, which was released last week, indicated that University of Alabama at Birmingham player Chris Rabb may have placed bets on Florida State’s game against Louisville earlier this year. UAB is in the midst of an investigation of its own.

At that point, there was no viable information that led anyone to believe Winston was involved in the scandal. The only real connection seemed to be a relationship between Rabb and Winston.

Now with the NCAA reportedly investigating Winston, this could very well change.

Here is some of the report from TMZ.

The NCAA is actively investigating allegations Florida State QB Jameis Winston was involved in a point shaving scheme to help another college football player win a $5,000 bet … TMZ Sports has learned.

We’ve learned … the NCAA enforcement staff is actively trying to contact individuals it believes may know anything about the alleged plot.

It goes without saying that if there is any hard evidence that Winston was actively engaged in a point-shaving scandal that his Florida State career would be over. This doesn’t even take into account the likelihood that he would never see the inside of a NFL stadium as a player.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Some of the reports have come from less-than-viable sources. And the only thing we know right now is that the NCAA is reportedly investigating Winston.

We will obviously have more information on this story as it breaks.
