Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Reggie Wayne has been the subject of criticism as of late due to posting his season-low performance last week resulting in only 10 yards.
Flushing away any talk that his play is going downhill, Wayne shared this comment with The Indianapolis Star.
You ever heard of toilet material? That’s the category I put that in.
If you factor into the equation Wayne’s entire career, it takes a lot of nerve to criticize the 13-year veteran who is about to make his 207th appearance with the Colts. With only one less appearance than the legendary Peyton Manning who has the most in the history of the franchise, Wayne currently has the seventh-most all-time catches, eighth-most yards and 22nd highest amount of touchdowns.
While Wayne’s overall stats are quite phenomenal, it would only be natural to expect a bit of a lag for the 36-year-old, especially coming off of ACL surgery last season. The criticism surely stems from the fact that Wayne has only one game this season where he surpassed the 100-yard mark. Wayne also has four games this season where he has had 35 or less yards.
However, the remainder of the season plays out for Wayne, he certainly can be proud of his accomplishments so far, and be thankful for the fact his health has allowed him to endure 13 long seasons doing what he loves best.
