Lions WR’ Golden Tate Embarrassed by Sunday’s Loss

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate, who is no stranger to stirring up the pot publicly, had some stinging words about how his team performed in a 34-9 loss to the Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

It’s one of those games, we just…it’s embarrassing,” Tate said, via ESPN.com. “We’ve got to chalk it up and have a short-term memory. That’s the most important thing, not to lose our swagger, not to lose our confidence. Just come out with a mission, come out on a mission to really take it out on our next opponent, which happens to be Chicago, who is also another good team regardless of what their schedule says.

Detroit failed to put up a touchdown for the second consecutive game, falling a full game behind the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North and placing it in a tie with two other teams for the final playoff spot in the conference.

For his part, Tate racked up four receptions for just under 100 yards on a whopping 11 targets. Compared to his previous performances with the Lions, Sunday’s outing was a dud for Tate. But that could be said across the board for a Lions team that has lost two consecutive games and is not playing good football on offense. Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed just 39 percent of his passes, consistently missing his receivers throughout the afternoon.

Detroit will take on the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving in what looks to be a must win for a team that just two weeks ago stood atop the NFC North standings.
