Former NFL Player Luke Petitgout Charged with Sexual Assault

Former New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Luke Petitgout, who played nine seasons in the NFL, has been charged with sexual assault in New Jersey.

According to NJ.com, Petitgout was arrested on Tuesday and charged with both sexual assault with force as well as simple assault.

As of the report, Petitgout was being held at the Bergen County Jail on $50,000 bail. The officials refused to release any more information about the case.

His lawyer, Patrick J. Jennings, had this to say about the charges.

The charges are entirely without merit. The allegations are baseless. We intend to vigorously defend against the allegations in court.

In another incident earlier this year, the former first-round pick of the Giants was charged with assaulting a man who he allegedly saw communicating with his wife of 13 years, who has since filed for a divorce. She had also accused him of assaulting her in the past, but those charges were dropped.

Needless to say, Petitgout’s post-NFL career doesn’t seem to be going too swimmingly.

From 1999-2006, Petitgout started 108 games for the New York Giants and protected Eli Manning’s blindside for his final three seasons with the team. He moved on to the Buccaneers the following year, but only suited up for four games before calling it quits.

He was the 19th overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft out of Notre Dame.
