Chiefs’ Fans Unhappy About London Game

The Kansas City Chiefs will be losing a home game next season when they travel to London to take on the Detroit Lions in one of three games the NFL announced will take place in the European city.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions will be playing a neutral-site game in lieu of an eighth road game for the second straight season. They defeated the Atlanta Falcons in London earlier this year.

For their part, Chiefs fans don’t seem to be too happy with losing out on a home game at Arrowhead. SB Nation’s Arrowhead Pride conducted a poll in which 81 percent of those who voted hate the idea of the Chiefs playing a home game in London.

As it relates to the Lions, they see this as an advantage. Team President Tom Lewand had this to say after the game was announced (via Pro Football Talk).

It’s an incredible honor for us. It’s also an opportunity for us,” Lewand said. “We would not have given up a home game in Detroit.

This has been a point of contention around the league. The Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the Dallas Cowboys in what amounts to being a home game for the one-win Jaguars, who are slated to play in London in next season as well.
