Cardinals Sign Carson Palmer to $50 Million Extension

According to CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora, the Arizona Cardinals have signed quarterback Carson Palmer to a three-year, $50 million contract extension.

The guaranteed money in this deal, which is all that matters, is not yet known.

Palmer is having a resurgence for the Cardinals, who boast the best record in the NFL at 7-1 heading into Week 10. After missing three games earlier in the year, Palmer has come on strong recently. He has thrown 11 touchdowns compared to two interceptions and boasts a 99.3 quarterback rating for an offense that ranks in the top third of the NFL in points scored.

Some may criticize Arizona for this extension, but it was unlikely to find a better alternative in free agency or the draft. In addition to this, Palmer was set to become a free agent following the season. The Cardinals simply didn’t want to face the possibility of having to place the franchise tag on him.

Prior to this season, Palmer had struggled big time with mistakes. He threw 72 interceptions in his previous 56 starts before lowering the amount of mistakes he has made during the 2014 season.

We will update you when the full details of the contract are released.
