Former Oakland Athletics slugger Joe Canseco, who has had somewhat of a strange post-MLB life, is reportedly recovering in a Las Vegas hospital after shooting himself in the finger while cleaning his gun.
KLAS-TV in Las Vegas reported that Canseco suffered the accidental gunshot wound at his home on Tuesday afternoon.
A neighbor tells 8 News NOW former baseball star Jose Canseco was hurt in an accidental shooting Tuesday afternoon at his house on the eastside of the Las Vegas valley.
Metro Police confirm there was an accidental shooting at the address, but would not confirm the former player was hurt. However, records show Canseco owns the home where the shooting happened.
The good news here is that Canseco appears to be okay. The bad news (at least for him), is that he’s going to be the butt of ALL THE jokes around the Internet world in the coming weeks.
And considering Canseco is active on social media, we should be hearing first-hand accounts from the former slugger about what happened in the coming days.
That should be fun.
Update: TMZ is reporting that Canseco shot off his middle finger.
