Joe Panik Makes Stunning Play in Game 7 of the World Series

The table was set for the Kansas City Royals to come through with a lead in the bottom third of Game 7 of the World Series against the San Francisco Giants.

With a runner on first and no outs, Royals power-hitter Eric Hosmer hit a ground ball that looked like it was going to make it out of the infield for a single. That would have set the Royals up with runners on first and third.

But Joe Panik wasn’t ready to panic (yeah, my puns are horrible).

After a lengthy review, the umpires overturned a safe call at first, which likely saved the Giants at least one run. The importance of this play cannot be overstated considering the Giants ended up taking a 3-2 lead in the top half of the next inning.
