Jay Glazer: No Way Jim Harbaugh Returns in 2015

Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer just dropped a bomb on the network pregame show. Glazer doesn’t see any way Jim Harbaugh returns to the San Francisco 49ers, even if the team wins the Super Bowl.

While not necessarily a report based on sources, Glazer is one of the most trusted sources of information around the NFL. When he runs with a story, which happens less frequently than other insiders, Glazer is usually spot on.

This comes on the heels of a report last week by Deion Sanders indicating that multiple 49ers players want Harbaugh out.

At some point, you simply need to take a step back from this and realize there has to be some truth to all these reports. While the extent of the truth is unknown, Harbaugh’s future in San Francisco is not anywhere near as guaranteed as it was just a few months ago. That’s clear right about now.

If Harbaugh were to leave the 49ers for another NFL team following the 2014 season, they would have to work out a trade. The logical fit here would be the Oakland Raiders, but it’s unsure whether Oakland would want to part with what would likely be at least a first-round pick as compensation for Harbaugh.

Another obvious option is Michigan, which is currently in the midst of a 2-4 campaign and is likely going to fire head coach Brady Hoke. But as with a lot of the ideas surrounding where Harbaugh might end up (should he leave San Francisco), there are some holes in this. Would Harbaugh leave a high-profile NFL job for the mess that Michigan has become?

In any event, Glazer’s report does shed some more light on the situation between Harbaugh and the 49ers.
