Chiefs’ Tamba Hali Helping Ebola Victims

Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Tamba Hali, a native of Liberia, is helping fight the Ebola epidemic that has killed 3,500 people in the West African country his family fled when he was 10 years old.

Hali is joining officials from Heart to Heart International in Kansas City to construct a clinic in Liberia’s capital of Monrovia.

In doing this, Hali becomes one of the first professional athletes to take notice of the affliction that is threatening hundreds of millions worldwide. While he still does have family in Liberia, none of them have been infected with the disease.

It’s a great gesture from a man that has always found a way to support a land his family left behind during a bloody civil war that led to years of genocide committed by former president Charles Taylor.
