Adrian Peterson Responds to Report

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson took to Twitter on Tuesday evening in order to refute allegations that he misused funds from his charity. The All-Pro running back, who is currently away from the team as he awaits trial on child abuse charges, refused to touch on allegations that he committed sexual assault. However briefly it was, Peterson did touch on reports that he took part in a orgy.

Below are a series of Peterson’ tweets, which may in fact be hard to understand.

Above, Peterson questions the validity of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s report and attempts to clear up what foundation received donations. He also concludes that paperwork issues were the reasons for discrepancies.

He did claim that whatever happened the night in question was not an orgy. However, Peterson did not expand on his thoughts in these series of tweets outside of indicating that neither his uncle or himself owned the credit card in question.

Instead of clarifying what might have happened, Peterson decided to focus more on the issues he has with the media at this point.

It makes sense that Peterson would decide to respond via social media. He apparently doesn’t trust anyone in the media to do the right thing, but these detailed series of tweets are rather interesting for a number or reasons.

“I guess never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”

What good story is Peterson talking about here? The charges of child abuse that he is going to stand trial on after pleading not guilty? Maybe the reports that he partook in an orgy and used funds from his charity for the events that took place that night. In any event.

The larger question I have here is whether Peterson is getting the correct advice from those around him. No mainstream agent or PR department would support a player that’s in Peterson’s situation taking to social media to respond to multiple reports from media outlets.

If Peterson is truly innocent as it relates to these reports, the best way would be to handle it through the proper channels. And as we already know, Twitter isn’t one of those proper channels.
