Following a disastrous 38-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, pretty much everyone knew that Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen was a dead man walking. It was the team’s 10th consecutive loss dating back to Week 12 of last season and took place against a team in the Dolphins that was coming off a disastrous performance of their own.
Now comes this report from Terry Collins of the Associated Press indicating that Allen will be fired as the Raiders head coach on Tuesday.

Oakland is heading into its bye week, so this was the time for owner Mark Davis and Co. to make a move.
Despite not possessing the necessary talent to compete on a consistent basis, the Raiders simply haven’t shown any real progression under Allen.
If true, this would mark the end of a tenure that has seen Allen 8-28 in two-plus seasons as the Raiders coach.
While it’s not yet known who would replace Allen on an interim basis, common logic seems to suggest that it will be assistant head coach Tony Sparano or offensive coordinator Greg Olson.
It’s a move many expected at this point, but the Raiders now must go back to the drawing board in order to find a long-term replacement here. They simply haven’t had any continuity at head coach over the past couple decades. And in order to turn it around, this must change.
