Saints’ Mark Ingram Wants to be the Greatest

At least New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram didn’t indicate that he was the best running back in the NFL during an interview with ESPN on Friday. While falling short of that statement, the former first-round pick out of Alabama did say he wants to be the best running back in the HISTORY of the league.

The sky’s the limit, man. I want to be the best back to ever play the freakin’ game of football.

And I want Kate Upton to get down on bended knee and propose to me.

Widely considered a bust in NFL circles, Ingram has put up just over 1,600 total yards and 11 touchdowns in three NFL seasons. He’s averaging 4.1 yards per rush and is coming off the worst campaign of his career, going for 386 rushing yards and a score.

New Orleans failed to pick up the fifth-year option on Ingram’s rookie deal this past offseason, which means he’s likely going to move on from the team next spring. That’s likely Ingram’s best chance at being a featured back in the league, as both Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson are ahead of him on the Saints’ depth chart.

Maybe Ingram should temper expectations and focus on putting up more than 601 yards in a single season.
