Report: Kevin Love Finally Finalized

The trade that has taken months to be finalized appers to be complete. According to various reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves have in fact sent All-Star power forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade.

We reported the parameters of the deal on Friday, but more information has come to light since.

This is how the deal works out in the end.

Cavaliers Get Timberwolves Get Sixers Get
Kevin Love Anthony Bennett Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
$6.3M trade exception Andrew Wiggins Alexey Shved
Thaddeus Young Conditional 2015 first-round pick

It’s a heck of a deal for a Timberwolves team that knew it was going to have to send an unhappy Love packing. Flip Saunders was able to turn a disgruntled veteran into a young franchise player in the form of Andrew Wiggins, a former No. 1 overall pick in Anthony Bennett and a solid starting option in Thaddeus Young. Add Ricky Rubio and the Timberwolves remaining players and they could in fact be a better overall unit without Love than with him.

For Cleveland, the deal was made for one reason. Acquire another All-Star in Love to form one of the best trios in the NBA. Along with all-world forward LeBron James and youngster Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers are now the most-talented team in the NBA.

In addition to James and Love, Cleveland has added a ton of lesser-known veteran options this offseason. The likes of Mike Miller, Brendan Haywood, Shawn Marion and James Jones add a great amount of depth to the roster.

Philadelphia nets a couple young players and a valuable first-round pick for a player it didn’t envision to have a long-term future with the team. It’s not a bad move on the Sixers part at all.
