Patriots’ Tom Brady Explains Attempted Tackle

What exactly was 37-year-old New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady thinking when he attempted a tackle on Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback Cary Williams last Friday?

Friday night in the Patriots’ second preseason game against Philadelphia, Brady threw a pick-six to Williams, whom he attempted to tackle thereafter. What on Earth was Brady thinking taking such a risk at his age?

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com had the opportunity to ask Brady this question personally and Brady responded with this.

I didn’t even think about it, adding that his instincts simply took over. The thing I was bummed about was that I didn’t get him down.

I guess we can admire Brady’s passion in this event that could have gone extremely bad. Or, perhaps Brady was just trying to compete with his younger rookie quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, who attempted to recover a fumble in a similar situation in the preseason opener. Either way, a mature franchise quarterback like Brady shouldn’t take such risks.

Not only that, Gisele doesn’t like when Tom looks bad on a football field.
