According to police reports and Yahoo Sports, 25 year-old Defensive Tackle Linval Joseph was shot in the calf and was being investigated by Minneapolis police when a shooting occurred at a downtown nightclub.
Following the Minnesota Vikings preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders, Joseph went to the 400 Soundbar nightclub in downtown Minneapolis where the shooting took place. Nine people sustained injuries including two people who were left with serious injuries and in stable condition. The other seven, including Joseph, suffered minor injuries.
The club owner Johann Sfalleos told the Star Tribune he heard the shots that ultimately came out of nowhere.
Suddenly a person just pop, pop, pop, he said of the shooter. The whole thing was surreal. It was out of the blue.
Joseph was called an innocent bystander according to a team statement. The shooter has yet to be identified.
