It seems that the Atlanta Braves have let the entire Dan Uggla situation play out a bit too long for their taste. According to a report by Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Atlanta is going to release the embattled second baseman.

Uggla, who signed a five-year, $62 million contract with the Braves prior to the start of the 2011 season, has been nothing short of an embarrassment for the team over the past couple years. He is hitting .162 with just two homers and 10 RBI’s on the season. This comes on the heels of Uggla putting up a .179 average with 171 strikeouts last year.
His overall WAR of -1.9 over these past two seasons is among the worst in all of baseball. At 34 years old and in a steep decline, it remains to be seen who might show interest in Uggla. The Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics are among contending teams that have shown interest in infielders as the trade deadline approaches.
