DeSean Jackson Joins LeSean McCoy in Philly for a Charity Game

Despite the fact that wide receiver DeSean Jackson is no longer a fellow Philadelphia Eagle and teammate of LeSean McCoy, he came to Philadelphia to support his his buddy’s charity, Shades of Greatness and ALS.

Jackson’s team proved triumphant, as the trash-talking receiver scored 45 points against McCoy’s team during the charity basketball event. Jackson’s team consisted of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Walters, boxer Danny Garcia and rapper Nelly. With Jackson scoring nearly half of the points for his team, he was clearly the best player. And was possibly sending a a message as to what his former city might be missing.

Whatever the consensus, Jackson had this to say (via CBS Philly).

I was here for the fans.

After the event, Jackson patronized the fans by signing autographs and taking selfies in front of all of the media covering the event.

McCoy, whose grandmother passed away from ALS, had this to share regarding his beloved grandmother.

Man, she was special. The weird thing is she didn’t care too much about sports. There were times that I had five, six touchdowns and she’d pat me on the back like, ‘Good job.’ Then, something small, like the next day I go to church and I have a nice suit on and I dressed myself and she’s like, ‘Oh my God!

One interesting takeaway from the event that also saw wide receiver Jeremy Maclin participate is that as the game went on, he and Jackson conversed quite a bit. At the end of the game, they shook hands, laughed and exchanged cell phone numbers.
