Cubs Acquire Felix Doubront from the Red Sox

The Chicago Cubs have added the starting pitcher that everyone anticipated they would either. However, the deal for former Boston Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront isn’t exactly the blockbuster that we all had in mind.

Chicago reportedly sent a player to be named later and cash to the Red Sox for the 26-year-old starter, who is 2-4 with a 6.07 ERA on the season. Doubront is coming off two consecutive double-digit win seasons, so there is some upside for the Cubs here. It might all be about a change of scenery for the lefty.

Don’t expect this to be an end to the Cubs’ dealings for starting pitchers, which could occur in the offseason. They have three of the top positional player prospects in baseball in the form of Javier Baez, Addison Russell and Kris Bryant…who all play the left side of the infield. In addition to that, rumors persist that All-Star Starlin Castro could be moved at some point.
